The countdown has well and truly begun to the ‘Cavalli a Roma’ event following the official presentation at a press conference yesterday in the Italian capital. This year’s event in Rome promises to be even more international as well as full of new and interesting features.
A reminder that the equestrian event runs from February 19-21 at the Fiera di Roma and is offering an action packed schedule for visitors and fans, both fun and competitive, and across all disciplines within the 9 exhibition halls.
For passionate followers of show-jumping the place to be is exhibition hall no. 3 where horse and rider combinations will be going head to head at the Fixdesign International Show Jumping event: the highly anticipated international indoor competition.
Speaking ahead of the big appointment, this is what FISE representative Duccio Bartalucci had to say: “This represents for Rome, and for the whole nation, a great and important opportunity in the growth of our sport as well as an incredible opportunity for all those involved in the sector to find a home. The equestrian heritage in Italy is something to be admired.“
Event director Gianluca Quondam added: “We have created, for the first time, an international event with the aim of giving plenty of opportunities to young riders under the age of 21 and a chance for them to compete at a prestigious setting which normally they are not part of.“
Another new feature is the standard of the courses on which races will be carried out: “Thanks to the partnership with the Global Champions Tour and Jumping Verona, we can benefit from the race-track usually used for the World Cup. It’s important we enter into a positive cycle of big international events and to achieve this it’s necessary to guarantee high standards and I have to admit that we are on track.“
Roman rider and winner of the 2015 edition of the ‘Master Cavalli a Roma’ Filippo Lupis praised the attention given to youth at this year’s event while confirming he is ready for the Fixdesign GP on Sunday February 21:  “As a rider and as an instructor, I am happy such an important international event has arrived in Rome, and which has nothing to envy when it comes to the organisation compared to other high level events. Apart from Piazza di Siena, the city of Rome has been missing an event like this and it will reveal itself to be an important and not to be missed competition.“
With that in mind, let the countdown continue to the big event in the eternal city.
