The Italian riders have made a strong start to the CSIO Rome with Gianni Govoni and the promising Guido Franchi both registering impressive results.
Govoni won the time trial with the 10 year-old KWPN Bobolensky (Cornet Obolensky) ahead of second ranked Marcus Ehning and Billy Twomey.
Franchi, just 17 and the youngest at the event in the Italian capital, took the victory in the competition for 7 year-old horses with d’Hextra Hedonist. In second we find Marcel Marschall and in third Jur Vrieling.
To continue, in the 1.50m trial McLain Ward jumped his way to the win with HH Carlos Z. Italy’s Lorenzo De Luca was second while Simon Delestre was third.
