Our calendar of equestrian activities returns again this week with the most interesting events of the weekend; let’s start with the last stage of qualification for the Longines Global Champions Tour, which will take place in Vienna starting tomorrow, Thursday 17 September which will decide the finalists for this season finale.
Having won the the Rolex Grand Slam, Scott Brash again is the Global leader, repeating the success of last year in spite of the fierce pursuit of the Portuguese rider Luciana Diniz.
Diniz, who is in second place in the LGCT ranking, was able to take advantage of the absence of the Scottish rider in Rome and reduce the distance to the leader, now just 11 points behind (276 points for Scott Brash, 265 Luciana Diniz) .
In Vienna there will also be the winner of the previous event, after coming close last year Rolf-Goran Bengtsson is another very serious candidate for victory in this edition of the Global Champions Tour.
The Swede and his Casall Ask have widely proven to be in good shape: the stallion has been well maintained by its rider during the season and can seriously undermine Scott Brash on his way to the title, which would be the third in a row for the Scot if should reconfirm this year.
In Austria there will be an Italian rider , Alberto Zorzi.
