Scott Brash secured a LGCT hat-trick on Saturday night.
After winning the Miami Beach and Monte Carlo legs of the tour, the Scottish rider made it a third win of the 2015 season by claiming first place at the Portuguese leg Cascais with his extraordinary mount Hello Sanctos.
His latest win means he keeps up the pressure on tour leader Luciana Diniz of Portugal and firmly in the hunt to reclaim his crown.
Last year Brash won the LGCT after a neck and neck battle with Sweden’s Rolf-Goran Bengtsson. It was so close in fact that both riders ended up level on points and the title was only handed to Brash on account of him winning more tour legs than his Swedish colleague.
Focusing back to this year’s tour and the latest leg in Portugal, Brash came out on top in a 4 contender jump-off. Christian Ahlman immediately ruled himself out of the running by collecting 4 penalties with his mount Cornado II. The runner-up spot meanwhile went to Saudi Arabia’s Abdullah Alsharbatly with Domingo and the young Irishman Greg Broderick took the final podium slot with MHS Going Global.
Saturday’s course claimed the scalp of several top riders including the likes of Ludger Beerbaum (5th) and Bertram Allen (6th) with both riders going out in the second round along with other household names such as Philipp Weishaupt and home favourite Luciana Diniz with Winningmood.
