The 2008 Italian champion Piergiorgio Bucci is risen; after a far from joyous start to the season, the rider from Aquila has let his class come to the fore in show jumping’s most important venues worldwide. Having contributed decisively to Italy’s win in the Meydan Cup in Dublin with a clear and fast run, Bucci missed out on the podium by a few thousandths of a second  in the Longines Irish Grand Prix, worth 200 thousand euro. However, fourth place on Kanebo still brought him 20 thousand euro. Victory went to German Toni Hasmanns on Llolita H. (0-0 – 49,19), second place for two Swiss riders, Pius Schwizer on Carlina IV (0-0 – 50,21) and Beat Mandli on Louis 162 (0-0 – 51,40).
