Yesterday the 1st Catanzaro Province Equestrian challenge at the Valle dei Mulini got underway with the youngest riders, allowing the staff to put the organisation of the week’s competition at the Parco Ippico to the test. The B110 and B100 were the two opening events, where the fences did not exceed 110 centimetres. In the B110 three riders out of the starting 11 managed to complete the circuit set by Paolo Rossato without committing any faults: Natale D’Aguì on Kool, Giuseppe Stillitano on Dea VII and Giulia Governa in the saddle of Leroy 063. The three young jockeys from Calabria finished all in equal first place. The B100 saw two 17-year-olds, Alfredo Argento on Tigro H and Giuseppe on Austera set off and complete the course without error. Third equal place with one fault four other young riders from Calabria: Domenico Canino on Carla Bley dello Spineto, Adele Matozzo on Babilony, Claudia Strangis on Gemma V and once again GiuliaGoverna su Leroy 063.Roberta Cardona, the president of the Calabria Region FISE Committee, appeared completely satisfied when he said: “The young riders from Calabria with the licence inaugurated the course here at Valle dei Mulini. These two days without doubt will be useful to test out organisation of the event but also to give the young riders a chance to compete against each other on the same course that will host the big names this weekend in the national show jumping championships.”    Wednesday sees two more events for the youngsters, while an inauguaration ceremony is organised for Thursday, June 25th to welcome the cream of Italian show jumping from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th.
