CSI5* Lyon: a round-up of the results ahead of today’s FEI World Cup at 14.30.

Simon Delestre rode to victory on home soil in Lyon yesterday to win the Equità Masters. The French rider won the prestigious trophy in front of his home crowd on 9 year-old selle française Ryan des Hayettes (Hugo Gesmeray) after a faultless display in a time of 34.63 seconds in the final round. US rider Lauren Hough maintained her impressive form at the event in Lyon by taking second place on Royalty des Isles (Zandor Z). The final podium slot went to Belgian rider Constant van Paesschen with the 10 year-old SBS gelding Citizenguard van de Understone (Happy Wind’Hof Ten Bos).

There were 2 other competitions taking place yesterday at the CSI5* Lyon and in the afternoon there was a surprising victory from one of the new faces on the international scene. Louis Bouhana, born in 1984 and making his first appearance in a CSI5* competition, rode to an unexpected win with his 10 year-old selle française Qlandestin SAS (Elan de la Cour). By doing so he left behind Brazil’s Doda de Miranda (2nd with AD Nouvelle Europe Z) and Egypt’s Abdel Said (3rd with Dakota) in the 1.50m/1.60m Prix Merial in two phases. The other trial was one reserved to young horses which was won by Colombian Carlos Lopez who rode to the win in the 1.40m trial with Cuplandra (Upgrade kwpn) in 54.34 seconds. Second place was taken by Belgium’s Ignace Philips on H Blue Boy van Essene (Blue Boy van Berckenbroek) while the final podium slot went to Egyptian rider Abdel Said with the 7 year-old Hope van Scherpen Donder (Quadrillo).
