One of the competitions with the biggest technical difficulty in the CSIO5* in Gijon is the tenth trial with jump off, obstacle height 1.50 m. A qualifier for the Grand Prix where points are valid for the FEI Rolex Ranking, English rider Scott Brash came out on top in Bon Ami II with a double lap without errors and a time at the jump off of 44.08.
The time meant the British athlete left behind Irish rider Cian O’Connor on Carpe Diem (0/0; 44.39) by just 31/100 of a second. Abdullah Al Sharbatly on Larkhill Cruiser came in third with 0 errors and a time of 45.48. Natale Chiaudani, in SNAI Corradio O.H, won access to the jump off but with 18 penalites accumulated, 14th place in the final classification was the best the Italian could do.
