CSIO5* Gijon: French rider Patrice Delaveau on top in the Grand Prix

The prestigious Grand Prix CSIO5* of Gijon, the six most interesting and challenging days of show jumping in Spain in the 2011 season, has finished. Patrice Delaveau was in extraordinary form on Orient Express, and he sealed a fine tournament yesterday Monday 5th September in a jump off with maxiumum obstacle height of 1.60 m, a qualifier for the Olympics in London 2012.  With the only double lap without errors and a jump off he finished in a time of 68.43. He left behind English rider Bruce Menzies on Sultan (0/1; 71.02) and the world class Swede Malin Bayard- Johnsson, third on H&M Reveur de Hurtebise (4/0; 68.89). A very positive run for Italian Natale Chiaudani, on Almero 12 he won 14thin the final position (4; 76.23),  just milliseconds away from making the second round.
