Eduardo Pereira de Menezes Claims Five-Star Victory in Valkenswaard
A victory decided by the narrowest of margins saw Eduardo Pereira de Menezes take centre stage aboard H5 Messentus PS in the 1.50m class presented by Roelofsen Horse Trucks at the Longines Global Champions Tour of Valkenswaard.
Nine combinations produced clear rounds to secure their places in the jump-off, where speed ultimately proved decisive. The Brazilian rider and the 13-year-old H5 Messentus PS stopped the clock at 37.43 seconds, finishing just 0.28 seconds ahead of Kevin Jochems and Casquetto van de Helle, who claimed second place in 37.71 seconds.
Completing the podium were Mark McAuley and Rossi vd Heffinck, who delivered a double clear in 39.68 seconds. Sandra Auffarth and Comcador OLD finished fourth in 40.85 seconds.
Clara Pezzoli flies the Italian flag with an excellent fifth place
Italy also secured a notable result thanks to Clara Pezzoli and Hadewyn van’t Ravennest, who produced two flawless rounds to claim an excellent fifth place. The Italian combination crossed the finish line in 42.19 seconds, completing an impressive performance against a highly competitive five-star field.
“To have my horses performing like this in such a beautiful grass arena is something truly special,” Menezes said. “A tremendous amount of hard work goes into victories like this, and I could not be more grateful to the team behind me, including my family and everyone at H5 Stables.”
The Brazilian immediately turned his attention to the weekend’s most eagerly anticipated class: “I am now fully focused on the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix. There is an exceptionally strong field here, and it promises to be a major day of top-class sport.”
Attention now turns to the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Valkenswaard at the Longines Tops International Arena, with valuable Championship points and a prestigious victory at stake.
