Edwina Tops Alexander has marked the start of the new-year in the best possible fashion by winning the CSI4* World Cup GP of Doha. The equestrian event in Qatar was playing host to the latest leg of the World Cup for the Arab League. The Australian horsewoman travelled to Doha in very good form after a positive end to 2014. Edwina Tops Alexander came in 5th place in the Stuttgart leg of the World Cup with Fair Light Van T Heike, 2nd place in the Madrid GP with Lintea Tequila, 5th place in the CSI5* Paris GP with Fair Light van T Heike and 10th place at the Olympia Grand Prix in London and 15th in the London leg of the World Cup also with Fair Light van T Heike. The lady rider showed no signs of letting her good run of results come to an end in Qatar, riding to victory with the splendid 12 year-old stallion Old Chap Tame (Carthago x Quidam de Revel). Edwina Tops Alexander was the first of the riders to go round the course during the second round, setting an unbeatable time of 49.29 and with no errors. The other faultless run came from the home rider Ali Al Rumaihi on Gunder (Thunder vd Zuthoeeve) which was good enough for second place. The final podium slot went to Saudi Arabia’s Abdullah Al Sharbatly with Toya 44 (Le Cou Cou x Argentinus) after 4 penalties. It’s great Equestrian World for Edwina Tops Alexander and goes some way to coping with the loss of her beloved dog Dutchy. She paid tribute to Dutchy who passed away over the Christmas period by posting lots of tributes through photos and videos on facebook. In what was a wonderful example of loyalty and sincere love towards her animals, we wish her all the best for the future and the rest of the season.
