Emilie provide good turn out at Piazza di Siena
There are many teams from Emilie Romagna competing in Rome for the traditional Piazza di Siena, the highlight in the calendar of the equestrian season. the races begin tomorrow, Friday 29th, and go on until Sunday 31st. It is the 77th edition of the tournament and the first under the presidency of Andrea Paulgross – a stern test for the newly elected FISE president and his staff.A total of four riders from the Emilie Romagna region have been called up by the head of National Show Jumping, Uberto Lupinetti to defend the colours of the Italian flag in the CSIO official event: Mirco Casadei, Juan Carlos Garcia, Gianni Govoni and Giuseppe Rolli.While in the juniors section, the riders from the same region are Jessica Barbieri on Heros du Lys, Loris Cavallo riding Cipria, Rebecca Lippi, making her debut in the team event for the Regional Committee, on Scarlet du Beaumont, Elia Matteo Simonetti on the saddle of Lady d’Argouges and as back-up Martina Fortini on Kama de la Lande.A total of 60 riders will be competing in Piazza di Siena, four riders for all of the ten qualified nations (only the USA are exempt for logistical reasons and are allowed 5 riders) 19 Italian riders (the four from the team and 15 individual riders) and five individuals.
