It’s common (especially abroad in Holland, Ireland and in the English countryside) for cars and horses to share country roads without too many problems. However, they can often come to the surface as the following event will seek to explain.
Two riders, Jessica Mills and Samantha Chesters, had a confrontation recently with a motorist while using a country road in Cheshire. The pair were riding down the country lane when an Audi A5 pulled up behind them. According to Chesters, the vehicle followed them for a few seconds and then the 18-year-old driver, Jacob Knox, sounded his horn.
The driver followed the pair and there was a heated exchange before the driver overtook at speed. One of the riders, Chesters, threw her whip at the car at this point.
The incident finished up in the Macclesfield courts with Knox being given 3 points on his driving licence for having used his mobile telephone at the wheel. The rider on the other hand was given a fine of 1,500 pounds for criminal damage and for her part in the affair.
