One of the favourite competitions amongst riders and fans on the international circuit, the Longines Speed Challenge, took place yesterday at the Hong Kong Masters.
Some of the fastest horses on the circuit took to the field to compete for the title which this year went to the French pair of Julien Epaillard and the selle française Pigmalion du Rozel (a 12 year-old sorrel and son to Le Tot de Semilly). The pair managed a time of 59.81 seconds to see-off the competition from Scott Brash and Hello Annie (Contendro I) who recorded a time of 60.06. This year was closely fought and there was very little to split the top-three riders and third place went to Holland’s Gerco Schroder with Glock’s Prince de Vaux (Flipper d’Elle) after a time of 60.38.
The rest of the top-ten was as follows:
4th Jane Richard Philips SUI Zekina Z
5th Olivier Philippaerts BEL Zandigo
6th Martin Fuchs SUI Picsou du Chene
7th Maikel van der Vleuten NED VDL Groep Eureka
