The third day of competition, marked the first official result/winner of the European
Jumping Championship Ch-J-YR. Yesterday we had two rounds of the Nations Cup, in two
different categories: Juniors and Young Riders, so expectations were high. In the Young
Riders, nothing is defined yet, since this was only the First Round of the Nations Cup, but
as for the Juniors we already know who got the 3 top spots on the podium…
Belgium was the strongest Nation yesterday…not only the team got the win in the Juniors
Nations Cup but the Young Riders are also well placed to secure a “Double Win”, in the
Young Riders category. The “fantastic 5” leaded by Rik Deraedt, Chef d`Equipe for more
than 10 years, is also composed by Bart Jay Junior, Aurelia Guisson, Anthony
Philippaerts, Tristan Guisson and Evelyne Putters. As an award for their amazing riding
skills, the 5 riders received a GPA Helmet and a weekend on Vila Galé Hotels, courtesy of
the sponsors (GPA and Vila Galé Hotels). The stays in Vila Galé were also given to the
second and third place, Switzerland and Great Britain, respectively. These two teams were
also awarded by the sponsors with Flexon ́s Stirrups (2 nd place) and Equick ́s Boots (3rd place).
In the Second Qualifier of the Young Riders, Lily Attwood (a habitué in Vilamoura), did
an amazing clear round in only 72,64, confirming the great results of the British riders
yesterday, after the third place achieved in the Juniors Nations Cup.
Tomorrow we have the Second Round of the Young Riders Nations Cup, so one more
team to add to the hall of fame and the First Round of Childrens Nations Cup, to start
defining the rest of this competition.
