European Pony Championships: Italy on podium in 3-day eventing

The final rush of the European Pony Championships is fast approaching on the track and fields of the Arezzo Equestrian Centre for the three-day event. The cross country run was held this morning and brought a fantastic result for Italy with Matteo Guiducci second on Mon Nantano de Florys, a result that confirmed the Azzurri in second place in the provisional standings behind France. In fact the only rider to outride Guiducci was Frenchman Victor Levecque on Qualtat des Bourdons with 37.70 in the dressage and a time of 7.02 in the cross country compared to 41.70 for the Italian, who however was faster over the countyside track with a time of 6.57. Britain sit in third place thanks to Yasmin Ingham on Craig Mor Tom, 44 in yesterday’s dressage and 6.44 this morning. It was certainly a good morning out also for Maria Sole Girardi who claimed fifth place on Loughton Lass. The two Italians in the top 10 are joined by another in the top 15 with Ludovica Bolaffio in 14th place on Dromalga Noor. Emma Pasqualini finished in 36th place on Fine and Smart de Langenheuvel and Chiara Gorini 41st on Zebedee.
