FEI Nations Cup the standout event this week
We’ve reached that stage of the week where we look ahead to the big events on the showjumping calendar. We start our preview with the CSIO5* Hickstead in Great Britain where teams will be in action for the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup for the European Division One. In addition to the hosts, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany and Italy will be competing for points with the latter making their way to Britain in good spirits after an excellent victory in the previous leg in Dublin.
The major event comes just one week before the start of the Olympic Games in Rio and gets underway on July 29. The hosts will be taking to the field with the following line-up: Scott Brash with Hello Guv’nor, Ben Maher with Diva II, Jessica Mendoza with Spirit T, Tim Stockdale with Fleur d’Aube and Michael Whitaker with Viking. Three of the aforementioned riders are in the Britain Olympic Team: Ben Maher, Michael Whitaker and Jessica Mendoza in the role of reserve.
