There were numerous and interesting events this weekend and one of these was the National Horse Show of Lexington, Kentucky, that held the north American stage of the World Cup.
An outstanding Beezie Madden rode to victory on home soil in the Grand Prix following a spectacular head-to-head in the final with McLain Ward on Rothchild.
Both riders were exceptional over the entire course and were level until the last jump where Cortes C seemed to just take off. That last hurdle handed the victory to the rider from Cazenovia. Taking the jump a little early, Cortes C managed to cover the distance of the jump without even grazing the hurdle, giving Madden a slight time advantage over McLain, who was also in imperious form on his horse.
Beezie took home the win, with qualification for the finals in Las Vegas very close now, and the prize money of 62500 euro. Ward took home 50000 euro in prize money but qualification is almost guaranteed for him as well.
Following Jessica Springsteen’s excellent result in Washington, another American stood out in Lexington. Georgina Bloomberg, from New York, managed to finish in third place in the World Cup GP with Juvina.
