It was dominance for Germany in Vienna this weekend in the Magna Racino event: a spectacular Marcus Ehning snatched victory in the Global Champions tour, riding Plot Blue and an unstoppable Ludger Beerbaum won the CSI5 * Vienna Masters with his 15 year old KWPN stallion Chaman (Baloubet du Rouet).
The course was designed by Frank Rothenberger which was challenging in distances and complex in its lines testing the likes of European champions Roger Yves Bost and Castle Forbes Myrtille Palois (4 penalties in 1st round).
The 44 pairs at the start produced 15 clear rounds in the first round with a great Stefan Eder who finished the first course in 45.42 setting the pace of the competition, the Austrian rider riding Concordija (Caretino) ended with a 4th place.
In great shape was Simon Delestre who has chased after Marcus Ehning in the GCT has also tried in this competition with the young (8 years) Stardust Quinhon (Calvaro), however, only coming in 5th place.
Then it’s on to Hans-Dieter Dreher on Embassy II which took the lead in passing Eder in 43.75, however, that lasted only until the arrival of Ludger Beerbaum whose 42.90 was unbeatable.
Rolf Goran Bengtsson stayed in touch of GCT leader Beerbaum settling in 3rd place in 44.84 with Clarimo Ask (Clearway).
