There is plenty of excitement in Reggio Emilia where the finals of the Non Pro IRHA/NRHA are taking place.
Forty-two riders took part and the Italian Giacomo Ronchi on San July Jo Magnetic (Chic Magnetic x Broc Olena Jo) won the L4 del Non Pro Derby. He had also won the 2012 Non Pro Futurity and yesterday picked up 222.5 points. What was a surprise was the maturity shown by this five-year-old horse who overcame the tension of such an important occasion and Ronchi dedicated the victory to his father who is a dog trainer and won the Italian Dog Show Derby.
The Belgian Susy Baeck was second on the six-year-old chestnut Pop Gun Cash BB (Nu Check To Cash x Sugar Pop Gun) owned by the Eifel Gold Ranch Baeck.
Third was another Italian, Eric Rainieri Volpe on Exxcaliber, which is a six-year-old stallion (Mr Snapper x Tivios Little Dun It) gaining 217 points just half a point off second place. The horse trained by Roberto Cuoghi last year has shown almost perfection this year thanks to the advice of trainer Alessandro Meconi.
Saturday sees the Open Derby Open over two rounds at 16.00 and the second at 20.00.
