There is no doubt now that Bertram Allen is one of the best riders of the new generation: the Irishman is noted for safety and effectiveness, fast and accurate, and when the event takes the right turn (which happens quite often), he does not miss out.
This is Bertram Allen, whose growth in the past two years has been rapid and steady: he is a regular member of the Irish national team, also because of the nice combination created with Molly Malone V accompanying him in the most important events.
Allen was on top yesterday in Monte Carlo in the Longines Global Champions Tour, winning the Prix Massimo Dutti 1.55m by 8/100ths from the most experienced Belgian rider Jerome Guery, who has also been in good form (winning twice at Chantilly) and David Will, who was third.
The Belgian Jos Verlooy won the Prix de la Fédération Equestrian Principaute de Monaco 1.45m, with Farfelu de la Pomme. Italy’s Piergiorgio Bucci was fifth in the saddle of Chiba Chiba.
Today, as usual, there will be the GCT Grand Prix Longines dedicated to the Prince of Monaco, with the first round from 18:30 and the second by 21:15 while tomorrow it will be the big Global Champions League event.
