Rome is ready for a big-day of equestrian-sport at the ‘Cavalli a Roma’ event with the reining and show-jumping disciplines set to bring the curtain up on today’s star-studded competitions in the Italian capital.
Starting with the Fixdesign International Show Jumping, the home-fans will be treated to the displays of three-time Italian young rider champion Filippo Bologni, the Garofalo and Vacirca siblings and Roberto Previtali.
Filippo Lupis meanwhile is out to defend his crown after winning last year’s Gran Prix Fixdesign.
The big names keep on coming in the form of Natale Chiaudani, Antonio Sanfelice di Monteforte, David Sbardella, Gabriele Grassi and Colombia’s Andres Peñalosa.
There is also plenty of opportunities for the youth to strut their stuff too in the form of the Gran Prix Pony which includes the ROMA2024 jump dedicated to the Italian capital’s bid to land the Olympics.
As for the reining discipline, athletes will be going head to head in the Nrha Rome Shoot-In, which boasts 50 thousand dollars in prize money.
Taking part are the world class husband and wife duo Bernard and Ann Fonck. The former is a 3 time World Champion while keep a close eye on fellow Belgian Cira Baeck.
Austria’s Rudi Kronsteiner, the first European to win the Million Dollar Rider international prize, will be looking to have his say while Italy’s representatives include Gennaro Lendi and Giovanni Masi de Vargas who already lays claim to nine European golds at just 23.
