Italians in form at the CSI2* Opglabbeek.
There were a series of positive finishes for the Italians at the CSI2* Opglabbeek in Belgium.
In the medium trial, won by Holland’s Anne Liza Makkinga with Cacharelle, Lorenzo De Luca came in 8th place with the eight year-old bay Harley. A time penalty prevented the Italian from going through to the jump-off in Saturday’s trial meanwhile but there was better Equestrian World for De Luca in the category reserved to 5/6 year-old horses, starring with the grey mare Dolitaire Chavannaise. In the same category, fellow Azzurri rider Gianluca Brugnoli came 10th with Esperit W.
As for the GP, first place was taken by Jeroen Appelen from Belgium with Filesto Van de Herkant, a 10 year-old gelding. Italy’s De Luca committed an error over the hurdles as well as incurring a time penalty with the 10 year-old gelding Limestone Grey. Manuel Pizzato of Italy also featured and with Blue Boy V. Berkenbroeck made just one error in round 1 and two time penalties.
In other results, Alexa Larkin with Cocobanta, an 8 year-old female bay, came in eighth place in the low international while Gianluca Brugnoli with Chiba Chiba came sixth in the CSIYH1* reserved for 7 year-old horses.
