Fifty-four horse-and-rider combinations gathered today in Montefalco, Perugia, for the ‘Fabiana Filippi’ Grand Prix, the high point of the CSI2* Le Lame International Sagrantino Tour.
The two-round class on a up-to-height 1.45m course welcomed riders coming from Japan, Switzerland, Great Britain, Turkey, Colombia, Germany, Sweden and Italy.
The winner was 27-year-old Federico Ciriesi from Modena, rider of the Team  Fiamme Oro-Polizia di Stato, who clocked the time of 37“78 atop of Cassandra 285. Five combinations jumped clear through to the jump-off, all being behind Ciriesi as follows: Juan Carlos Garcia (Zilver, 38“31), Luca Marziani (Tokyo du Soleil, 38“57), Marc Bettinger (for Germany atop of Robinson, 39“40) and Licinio Grossi (Diego, 42“20).
Federico Ciriesi left his mark on the first of the two international weeks thanks to the success in the Grand Prix and in the 135 category against time on Saturday. His sister Francesca did well on Friday to keep up the family name. The 25-year-old horsewoman was the fastest in the 145 against time “ranking points“, with a 66“03 clear round atop of Little Lord.
The Umbrian agenda schedules a second international event on May 18th-20th at Le Lame, with the CSI3* valid as 2018 World Cup and 2019 European Championship qualifier.
