This morning, the man behind the idea for the Longines Global Champions Tour, Jan Tops, will face the press ahead of the first ever edition of the Rome leg of the tour which takes place in the majestic setting of the Stadio dei Marmi, dedicated to Pietro Mennea.
Following the traditional Piazza di Siena event, the eternal city is gearing up for the second big international equestrian event in the Italian capital which offers free entry to those wanting to come by and be a part of it all.
The debut of the Italian capital on the 2015 edition of the tour also coincides with the celebrations for the 10th anniversary of the major international event. 3 highly anticipated days of competition are scheduled at the CSI5* Rome, which will naturally include the LGCT Grand Prix.
Adding to the celebrations, fans can expect plenty of entertainment and will be treated to a display from the Montebello Lancers and a tribute to Captain Federico Caprilli. Several artists are on hand too as part of the project “Il Cavallo e l’Arte“ (Horse and Art).
However, this year there will be a special focus on the solidarity and collaboration between the Italian Para Olympic Committee that has the aim of promoting integration between able bodied and disabled people through a range of interesting and fun initiatives.
Focusing on the design, the main theme is the colour white in order to bring out the splendour and the beauty of the sculptures and statues present at the Foro. The same colour theme also applies for the floral display, for which 560 white hydrangea plants have been chosen to decorate the equestrian village set up for the big event in the Italian capital.
