The Netherlands is increasingly becoming the hub of equestrian activity, not just because of its success during international competitions, but also because of its important and strategic location. In fact, the latest to set up camp there is none other than the horsewoman Katharina Offel, who after several years in Germany with Jochen Scherer’s team and then her own, has decided to move her stables to the Netherlands. Of German origins, Katharina Offel has been riding for the Ukraine since 2005 and thanks to the backing of the wealthy and influential figure Olexandr Onyshchenko, she has been able to enrich her stables with some important mounts such as Charlie and B Once Z. For Katharina Offel and many other riders, the Netherlands represents an ideal headquarters thanks to the country’s interest in equestrianism but also because of the closeness to other major international equestrian centres such as Lanaken in Belgium or Aachen in Germany which are just 20 and 40 km away respectively. As a matter of fact the next European Championships in 2015 will be held in Aachen. The new base is situated in Guttencoven and it is already well known in the sector as the famous trainer Henk Nooren was based there. The new headquarters are big enough not only for Katharina’s preparations and training, but also to host other horses and clients. http://katharinaoffel.com/en/
