There isn’t long to go before the European outdoor season begins and many of the top circuits are gearing up for the big moment.
One of these major events is taking place in La Baule which is preparing for the final touches ahead of the 2015 edition and will be held from the 14th of May through to the 17th.
Over 580 thousand euros in prize money is up for grabs across the main competitions: the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup, the Derby Meeting of Pays de La Loire and the La Baule Longines GP.
One of the most successful riders at this event is Michel Hècart. Along with his mount Nokia de Brekka, the pair have won the Derby a total of 3 times: in 2006, 2008 and the latest edition in 2014.
Traditionally, La Baule is by far an easy event and riders need to have at least two top horses at their disposal to have any hope of competing for the prizes in the main 3 competitions highlighted above.
This year’s La Baule Derby will be presented by Laiterie de Montaigu of the Pays de la Loire Region and will be made up of 22 classic and natural obstacles. There is a total of 61.500 euros up for grabs in prize money.
La Baule is also playing host to the second stage of the Nations Cup, which will precede the Italian stage in Rome. (21-25 May) Please see the following link for the complete calendar for the 2015 Nations Cup: http://www.fei.org/fei/events/fei-nations-cup-series/furusiyya/calendar
