LGCT 2015 underway yesterday at Palm Beach. New sponsor announced for German leg.

Yesterday marked the start of the 2015 Global Champions Tour season.
The first two competitions staged at the world famous Palm Beach were won by a Colombian and a US rider: Carlos Lopez won the timed trial over 1.45m with his mount Zephyr II and he finished ahead of Australian horsewoman Edwina Tops-Alexander with Questina in second and Belgian rider Gregory Wathelet on Egano van het Slogenhof in third.

Victory in the 1.50m trial with jump-off meanwhile went to Jack Towell with Cadence. The US rider took first place ahead of Switzerland’s Steve Guerdat with Concetto Son in second and Dutchman Maikel van der Vleuten with VDL Groep Arera C in third.

One of the guests of honour yesterday was none other than Elle McPherson, the model, businesswoman and show-jumping fan.
In other Equestrian World, the Longines Global Champions Tour press office have announced that the multinational clothes retailer H&M will sponsor the Hamburg leg of the tour. The brand is already very popular amongst the equestrian sector, sponsoring many international riders such as Malin Baryard-Johnsson, Nicola and Olivier Philippaerts and Peder Fredricson.
