Wellington, Fla. – July 29, 2021 – M. Michael Meller of MMM Horseman is thrilled to announce his new partnership with one of Australia’s top show jumping athletes, Matt Williams, who will be helping to produce the 5-year-old KWPN mare Fire Fly. Meller is known for partnering gifted young horses with some of the world’s top show jumping athletes.

Fire Fly was recently imported in the spring of 2021 from Mexico, where Williams first laid eyes on her. After only riding her for two weeks, he knew that he had to bring her back to the United States, which sparked the partnership between Meller and Williams. Since the start of the relationship, Fire Fly has already been impressing Meller and Williams with her athleticism, bravery and carefulness. After stepping off the truck in Tryon and going right into the 5 Year Old Jumpers, she has already proven her abilities, winning both classes during Tryon Spring 6. Most recently, the dynamic pair went on to win the 5 Year Old USHJA Qualifier at HITS Chicago IV. The entire team at MMM Horseman is looking forward to watching the continued success these two will have.
“She’s super careful, brave and just everything you look for in a horse,“ expressed Williams. “She’s a great type, she’s got plenty of blood and at the end of the day, she’s a winner. I don’t know if she will end up jumping 1.60m, you don’t know that yet, but whatever she finishes at, she’s going to be winning.“
Williams is undoubtedly one of Australia’s top show jumpers, representing Australia at three Olympic Games: Beijing 2008, London 2012 and Rio 2016. He also was a part of the Australian team at the 2010 World Equestrian Games (WEG) in Lexington, Kentucky. Growing up in rural Victoria, Williams began riding horses at a young age. As a junior rider, he won the Australian Junior Jumping Title and was named the Junior Rider of the year. He later went on to be named the Young Rider of the year for jumping and moved to England to further his career. He is now based in Mexico, running his own business, and has a fantastic team of horses.
“Matt is a world-class athlete whom I believe will bring out the best in Fire Fly,“ stated Meller. “They have already proven to be successful in the ring, and it is clear that they will continue on this path. Matt has a proven track record of producing top horses, and I believe with both his and Fire Fly’s talents, they will become a force to be reckoned with in the ring.“
As Meller continues his mission to find and produce some of the world’s top young show jumping mounts, he looks forward to watching the progress of Williams and Fire Fly’s partnership. Meller is also partnered with Dennis Sisco as part of QBS Equestrian, and together they are working to create a world-class team of horse and rider combinations.
