The 24th edition of the Memorial dalla Chiesa Italian Masters is now in full swing with the anticipation rising by the minute ahead of Sunday’s ‘il Resto del Carlino’ GP which has put 22 thousand euros up for grabs. What’s more, residents in Italy can watch it live on Sunday from 15.00 on Nettuno Tv and channel 99 on digital terrestrial.
In the meantime, Gianni Govoni continues to dominate. After his two wins yesterday, over 1.35m with Devlin K and over 1.40m with Bobolensky, he went on to win the ‘Cavallo Magazine’ Prize with Bobolensky. The trial, worth 4 thousand euros in prize money, was over 1.40m and against the clock and also the last chance to qualify for Sunday’s GP.
«Bobolensky is very attentive and respectful, a horse that you can always rely on, and I must admit I was expecting to do well together yesterday and today – said Govoni – while the victory with Devlin was a pleasant surprise. For the GP – added Govoni when questioned about the big event – I will ride with Antonio, a new horse that I hope will bring me results. Bobolensky is in great form and I could easily compete with it, but in the last important stage of the season I prefer to test Antonio and see how it copes».
Focusing back to the ‘Cavallo Magazine’ Prize, in second place we find Vincenzo Chimirri with Kec Giorgia and in third Arnaldo Bologni with Quidich de la Chavee.
Francesca Ciriesi meanwhile won the Maico prize over 1.35m with Casido L: a bay gelding born in ’98 and from Cassini I. The young horsewoman finished ahead of her more illustrious rival Gianni Govoni, who was second with Cladem Equi Store Boleybawn, and Gianni Bosi who settled for third place with Caffe Corretto.
The second day of the Memorial dalla Chiesa Italian Masters came to a close with the first stage of the Small Tour circuit in honour of Ettore Maurizzi, the Pegus patron who left us in October 2011. For the equestrian world it is always special to pay tribute to dear Ettore and see his son Omer hand out the awards during the prize giving ceremony.
