Nations Cup: Great Britain ride to victory in La Baule.
Great Britain have finished ahead of hosts France to conquer La Baule and win the French stage of the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup.
The British team led by coach Di Lampard weren’t competing for qualification points, but nonetheless took matters seriously and amassed just 7 penalties to take first place and with it a cool 64 thousand euros.
Joe Clee and SBS Utamaro d’Ecaussine (Diamant de Semilly) were Britain’s best performers and registered the only double clear in the team. The rest of the team was as follows: Spencer Roe with Wonder Why (0/4), Guy Williams with Titus (1/4) and Michael Whitaker with Cassionato (1/2).
Philippe Guerdat’s France had to settle for second place in front of their fans, which may not have the same meaning as a victory on home soil, but it does catapult them to the top of the overall standings. The French team lead the way on 160 points ahead of Belgium in second (150 points) and Ireland (125 points). Former leaders Italy have slipped down into fourth on 100 points.
Nicolas Delmotte with Number One D’Iso Un Prince and after a double clear was the best performer amongst the French national team. The rest of the French team was made up as follows: Simon Delestre with Ryan des Hayettes (4/0), Jerome Hurel with Quartz Rouge (5/1) and Kevin Staut with Reveur de Hurtebise (8/0).
Ireland led by Robert Splaine took the final podium slot and their best performer was Greg Patrick Broderick with Mhs Going Global (4/0). The rest of the team performed as follows: Bertram Allen with Molly Malone V (0/8), Kenny Darragh with Sans Soucis Z (4/4) and Cian O’Connor with Good Luck (8/4).
