Nations Cup: Last stage goes to Germany

Germany were winners of the Nations Cup in Great Britain, a very important victory for the team led by Otto Becker after a picking up four penalties in the event. It was the first victory for Germany this season and came in the last stage.
It was a quality team put out by the Germans and the win came thanks to some solid performances. Germany now lie third in the overall standings. Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum was riding Fibonacci 17, Janne Friederike Meyer was with Goja 27, Patrick Stuhlmeyer had Chiara 222 (4 penalties in the second round) while Ludger Beerbaum didn’t need to go flat out with Chiara 222 thanks to the advantage built up.
Second on the day was team Ireland. Coach Robert Splaine put out an experienced team with Bertram Allen riding Molly Malone V (4 – 4), Billy Twomey on Diaghilev (0 – 4 scart.), Anthony Condon with Aristio (0 – 0) and Shane Breen with Golden Hawk (RT – 0).
Second place also for Belgium with Olivier Philippaerts on Challenge vd Begijnakker (4 – 4), Catherine van Roosebroeck with Gaucho da Quinta (8 – 10), Niels Bruynseels on the bac of Cas de Liberte (0 – 0) and Carel Cox on Cor van de Wateringhoeve (0 – 0).
4th USA – 12 penalties
4th Switzerland – 12 penalties
6th Great Britain – 20 penalties
7th ITALY – 28 penalties
7th Holland – 28 penalties
At this stage Holland are firmly in control of the standings with 330 points, followed in second by Ireland 323.33 points while Germany are now third thanks to this victory on 313.33 points
