
Peder Fredricson takes gold in Gothenburg

Peder Fredricson and the formidable 11-year-old H&M All In made the large Swedish crowd inside the Ullevi stadium in Gothenburg very happy taking a splendid gold despite a mistake and a time penalty in the second round.
It was a calm first round for the silver medalist from the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro who was in complete control.
Harrie Smolders made an excellent charge up the field on Don VHP Z from ninth place to third with an impeccable ride.
Good Luck and Ireland’s Cian O’Connor also produced a fine round as did Italy’s Alberto Zorzi who made a mistake, but remained cool and stayed in contention at the top of the standings where only a time penalty was his undoing.
Of the twelve binomial who have the second round, Marcus Ehning on Pret a Tout ended with a clear round course in sixth. Clear also for Peter Devos on Espoir who was in fifth place.
The most significant clear round was by the Dutch champion Smolders who in the saddle of the 13-year-old stallion picked up a silver medal on his neck and a total score of 5.52 penalty.
O ‘Connor and the 11-year-old Bay, Good Luck knocked down a fence but Ireland brought home the bronze medal with a total of 6.25 penalties.
The army corporal major Zorzi finished fourth in the standings with a total of 7.82 penalties overall after giving jump fans a great performance on Cornetto K.
