PIAZZA DI SIENA: Lamaze wins and Grassi makes Italy team
Canadian Eric Lamaze won the third event of the first day of the international tournament at Piazza di Siena. The Olympic champion was first in the Mercedes Benz high hurdles event recording two clear round ahead of 15-rider field, riding Hickstead and finishing the round in 26.04secs. In second place was the Dutchman Eric Van Der Vleuten with VDL Groep Kaid, French rider Penelope Leprevost was third (26 “04) on the 10-year-old Myss Valette ahead of Britain’s Peter Charles riding Murk’s Rubert R. As for the Italians, in fifth was Natale Chiaudani who mounted Snai Seldana Campalto; ninth Fabio Brotto riding R. Gypsy and tenth for Gianni Govoni who was on Copriander Van’t Vennehof.
Gabriele Grassi (finished 13th) which was accompanied by a less perfect Lorenzo Toscano who team manager Fucks decided to drop for Grassi ahead of the Nations Cup.
