Yesterday was a day to remember for Charlotte Dujardin who wrote another chapter in her incredible history by winning the Olympic gold for a second edition of the games in a row.
What’s more, the British star set a new points record with an out of this world 93.857% with her super mount Valegro.
The dream team took the spoils ahead of worthy adversaries such as Isabell Werth and Kristina Broring Sprehe who had to settle for second and third respectively.
As mentioned above, Dujardin wrote her name in the history books by setting a new points record and now has her sights set on a British record for gold medals, currently finding herself level on 3 with cyclist Laura Trott.
Fellow dressage star Isabell Werth is also targeting a record and has the chance to become the most successful German athlete in equestrianism.
Focusing back to Dujardin, the question now on everybody’s lips concerns the future of her 14 year-old mount Valegro.
After a series of excellent results, records and displays, there is talk of retirement and the issue will be discussed in the coming period.
As for Dujardin, she will now focus on affairs away from the field and is planning her wedding to Dean Wyatt Golding.
