As we edge closer to this year’s highly anticipated event in Italy, the Rome CSIO at Piazza di Siena, it’s worth pointing out some changes to previous editions.
The event begins from Thursday the 22nd of May and will run through to the 25th of May, with Rome playing host to the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup Jumping Series Division 1. This year, there will be a tribute to the legendary figures of Italian show-jumping, the d’Inzeo brothers, and the organisers have arranged the ‘Master Fratelli d’Inzeo Trophy’ in their honour.
The marketing of the event is in the hands of Integer, a part of the marketing group TBWA Italia, while the running of all sporting matters will be down to the Italian Federal Equestrian Association with the support of CONI, the Italian Olympic Association.
Piazza di Siena remains one of the stand out stages of the international circuit and has been inserted amongst the top-8 equestrian competitions in Europe.
Focusing further on the main event in Rome, the best pairs in Europe will be competing in the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup. 40 nations are set to do battle over 20 stages to pick up the necessary points to qualify for the final which will be held at Barcelona once again. There is however a change this year in the European Division 1 with the addition of 2 more teams with respects to last year. They are as follows: Belgium, Spain, Great Britain, Germany, Ireland, Holland, Switzerland, Sweden, Ukraine and the current champions France.
So, the organisers are adding the final touches and straight after the La Baule CSIO, Rome will be ready to take centre stage for what promises to be a thrilling event.
