135° Derby 1

Rome’s Capannelle race course is preparing to open its gates for the Derby in the third Sunday of May for what is the 135th edition. There is not out and out favourite but over the test on the 2200 metres we can mention FLOWER PARTY with Dario Vargiu in the saddle that will have a valid ally in teammate WAIT FOREVER mounted by Maxime Guyon. Even if it is a team game, Flower Party is unknown over the extra 200 metres required in the Derby which could prove too strenuous. Another team outing could be HENRY MOUTH mounted by Pierre Charles Boudot and SUMMER FESTIVAL with Demuro devil in the saddle. The former covers the derby distance well and has been admired winner in the Botticelli Prize, the latter came back after a long stop splendidly at San Siro asserting himself in the Emanuele Filiberto Award even if over a shorter distance. For a good placement SOLVANG with Andrea Atzeni on the saddle, cannot be ruled out, and is an author of a great comeback in the last 200 meters of the Botticelli Prize. Finally, attention to WIESENBACH with Fabio Branca has the means for a good performance. A race that, as often happens, can offer unexpected scenarios making the show even more fascinating for the passionate crowd that will once again fill every space in the racecourse to enjoy a fantastic show. A program that includes, in addition to the Derby, the Carlo D’Alessio Award, which will open the meeting, the Award dedicated to Edmondo Botti in the fourth race and the Tudini Prize as the eighth and penultimate race. There will be plenty of extras always prepared by the management company that runs the course located on the Via Appia. (Bruno Delgado)
