After the success from the first stage of the Sardinia Jumping Tour 2015, with over two-thousand people squeezed into the stands at Tanca Regia for the GP won by Piedmont’s rider Natale Chiaudani, the second stage of the 2 star event gets going again this weekend on the splendid Italian island.
The formula is the same as last weekend, with 80 thousand euros in prize money on the line (half of the 160 thousand total), 15 of which is reserved to the best Anglo Arab horses, as well as two Longines ranking categories that have precious World Cup points up for grabs and 21 other categories plus 9 national trials.
Things get into full swing on Friday afternoon with a “145” enriched by prize money of 24.500 euros, and comes to a close with Sunday’s Longines GP worth 25 thousand euros. The horse and rider list is the same as last week, with Austria represented by Stefan Eder and Christoph Obernauer, Andres Penalosa for Colombia while Natale Chiaudani, Roberto and Francesca Arioldi, the Coata brothers, Simone and Luca, Paolo Zuvadelli and Massimo Regina all flying the flag for Italy. What is more, the very best Sardinia has to offer will be competing such as Gianleonardo Murruzzu, Emanuele Baldinu and Elena Lorenzoni who have not been afraid to test themselves in the big competitions.
The first leg of the Sardinia Jumping Tour received plenty of praise from the FISE President (Italian Equestrian Association) Vittorio Orlandi who declared himself happy with the location and the level of the competitors. Regional Assessor for Agriculture Elisabetta Falchi said the following too <<It’s been an important event to re-launch Sardinia’s role in the equestrian sector and in particular for the Anglo-Arab breed. We set aside one million euros in the 2015 budget, in part for harness racing and in part for show-jumping. She added <<These results encourage us to do more and do even better in a sector with big potential such as breeding and sporting, but also from a niche tourist area, capable of catching the attention and interest of passionate followers around the world. There are no rivals to Tanca Regia in Italy for the places available where you can take part in all equestrian disciplines.
