Sardinia prepares for SardegnaCavalli 2009

The Sardinian town of Oristano has always brought horses to mind. That is why the local authorities have promoted SardegnaCavalli, the most important horse trade fair, since 1990. The debut event was held from September 14 – 16, 1990 in conjunction with the traditional Festa di Santa Croce, a prestigious appointment which for centuries until 36 years before provided the most important opportunity livestock trade fare for all of Sardinia, not just Oristano.
The spirit that inauguarted the 1990 SardegnaCavalli was borne from the desire to recreate within the religious festival a trade fare for cattle and horses, but not only, as the traditional appointment was also to include a meeting place for horse enthusiasts, horse traders, equipment manufacturers and the local bodies geared towards equestrian promotion.
Throughout the years SardegnaCavalli has proposed a rich variety of events which continues this year from September 11 to 13 with competitions, shows, photographic exhibitions and high quality local produce. Sardegnacavalli will have a stronger female presence than in previous years with a special focus on female entrepreneurs as well as women being the theme of the photographic exhibition.
