
Show Jumping, European Youth Championships underway in Samorin

The European Youth Show Jumping Championships are underway this week in Samorin, Slovakia. The international festival kicked off with the solo test for the Children category, a 1.25m time trial with Lithuanian rider Rugile Petraviclute, on Hannover Enjoy, leading the pack.
None of the pairings competing in group 1 made any mistakes, all completing the course with clear rounds in the first trials.
Group 2 is currently led by Danish rider Cecile Kjaer riding Aagardens Elina, with two Italian placing in the top ten. Lorenzo Cerreddu (fourth riding Touche D’Arrogance) and Giulia Bertolla (sixth riding Ti Lann duUp of Heritage), both finishing the trial with clear rounds, the former on 77.93 seconds and the latter on 79.89. Young Amazon Martina Ferrari, on Trustin, also managed a clear round but couldn’t keep up with the leaders’ pace as she placed 34th on 83.13 seconds.
However, the other two Italians on the field in group 2 incurred penalties. Martina Simoni, riding California Blue, placed 54th having picked up 4 penalties, while Vittoria Righi on Sushi picked up 9 penalties coming 89th.
Today the competition continues with the first qualification tests for the Young Riders and Juniors categories. Italy will be represented in the Young Riders category by Michele Previtali (Lagerfeld), Matias Alvaro (Tempo des Brieres), Guido Franchi (Lucaine), Alessandra Fuzzi (Tequila) and Tommaso Gerardi (Venusz). While Giulia Colosimo (Figo van de Blauwaert), Neri Pieraccini (Sorpresa della Favorita), Francesco Correddu (Necofix), Giacomo Casadei (Flickfox) and Ignazio Uboldi (Dakata vd Knuffel) will be competing in the Junior category.
