SHOW JUMPING, ITALY WINS THE JUNIOR CATEGORY

An extraordinary result achieved today on Thursday 7 July from Italy’s young representatives in Portugal for the European Show jumping Championships. After having finished the first round in second place managed, not only to maintain their concentration under the guiding hand of Emilio Puricelli, but also to maintain their high standard from the first round and finish the second with only 8 penalties. The sum total of only 14 penalties for both rounds means that the title of European Junior Champions goes to the Italian team. Second place went to Denmark with 18 and Norway was third with 21 points. Here is the break down: Filippo Codecasa riding Breezer finished with a single error as did Francesca Arioldi on Lady Chanu and Vincemzo Callerio on Carethago. Virginia Caruso on Lune de l’Othaine finished with no errors. And lest not forget that the team result will also count as a second qualifier for the the individual title currently heaeded by English rider Jessica Dimmock on Capello II, Swiss rider Emilie Stampfli on Alessa Z and Turkish Derin Demirsoy, the only riders not to have commited any errors so far. For the Italians Virginia Caruso on Lune de l’Orthaine is in fifth with 4 penalty points, Francesca Arioldi on Lady Chanu is seventh with five points, Filippo Cadecasa on Breezer is 14th with 9 point and Giampoalo Garolfalo on Loro Piana Ombre della Baia is 17th with 12.
