Showjumping bonanza heads to Milano Marittima

Following on from the Italian Pony Club Championships in July, Italian equestrian fans are set for another important event: starting tomorrow, the Le Siepi Equestrian Centre in Milano Marittima will be hosting the national championships for a wide range of categories, including veterans.
The equestrian extravaganza gets going on Thursday July 21 and runs through to Sunday July 24 with just under 500 riders and horses set to go head to head for the various national titles on the course designed by the course director Gianni Racca.
Fans will be treated to four days of showjumping with tomorrow’s stand out event the Veteran Championship with Andrea Messersì one of the top seeds with Nanù. The Italian rider arrives at the big event having won the gold medal for the third year on the trot in the Central-Southern Championship held at the end of April in Palermo.
Another name to watch out for is Marcello Carraro, a talented rider who celebrates his 56th birthday. Carraro has represented Italy at 7 Nations Cups between 1994 and 2010 and has also appeared at a number of international events such as Piazza di Siena, San Patrignano, the Pavarotti International and Madrid.
The aforementioned riders are just two of the big names however ready to take part while there is also a lot of excitement for the Trofeo d’Italia delle Associazioni, the thrilling team event which begins on Friday and comes to a close on Sunday.
