Sport and technology triumph in Umbria Endurance
The curtain has fallen on the first 2009 Umbria Regional Championship Open. The new formula called the Podium Challenge, introduced successfully by the Umbria FISE Committee, was backed from the beginning by the three towns that held the tournament, Città di Castello, Parrano and Narni. A triumph for the sport but also for technology, which in the equestrian field has taken huge leaps forward, going from electronic cardio-frequency counter to wrist-worn GPS to today’s GPS Transponder, which made its debut at Narni and which will make its official debut at the Assisi European Championships. The GPS Transponder will allow the entire organisation to check the whereabouts of competitors, the traceability of performances, security of the horse and rider partnerships on the course and live information for the spectators.
