Study groups for the Palio in Siena and the joust

School children from Rome will have the opportunity to study medieval events such as the Palio in Siena and the Giostra del Saracino joust in Arezzo under the direction of the Laboratory of Cultural Education  (ALICE). Three hundred students from the capital will be given the opportunity to learn about the history of the area, art, culture and local traditions. Six programmes of events have been established in various districts of Arezzo, museums and  the flag-bearers. The first takes place on Friday, April 3 with a visit to the principle monuments in the city and lunch on the Prato gardens. Then the students will watch a film about the joust at the “Aldo Ducci” auditorium in Via Montetini. There then will be a visit to the “Welcome to Arezzo” tourist centre and an exhibition of the flag-bearers at 16.00 in Piazza della Libertà. A parade of flag-bearers accompanied by drummers will take place through the city to bring the event to a close. The other events will take place on Friday, April 24, Thursday, April 30, and then on Friday, 15, 22 and 29 of May.
