Super Sweden in pole position at Euros

The Gothenburg 2017 European Championships have begun in brilliant fashion for the hosts who find themselves in first place in the provisional standings.
Leading the way for Sweden are Henrik von Eckermann, Malin Brayard – Johnson and above all Peder Fredricson whose excellent displays mean he is also head and shoulders above the rest in the individual standings.
The only sour note for Sweden was the error from Douglas Lindelow who slipped up at the final hurdle. But that aside, things are looking good for Sweden.
In second place meanwhile we find Switzerland whereas the final podium slot is currently in the hands of Ireland and Belgium.
For their part the Azzurri have also performed strongly to occupy fifth spot in the standings. In action for Italy are the following: Zorzi, De Luca, Bicocchi and Marziani.
A special mention to the latter who has been in fine form with Tokyo du Soleil and once again the duo are showing their full range of abilities on the international stage.
Just behind Italy are Germany who are competing with the veteran Marcus Ehning and the likes of Laura Klaphake, Maurice Tebbel and Philipp Weishaupt.
To continue, the second round of the team event begins tonight at 20.30 at the Ullevi Stadium where we will find out who will be crowned the 2017 European Champions.
Turning our sights briefly to the individual competition and there is excellent Equestrian World for Italy with Alberto Zorzi sitting in 8th place.
Leading the way though are Fredricson in first, Ehning second and Diniz third. See here for more: http://results.hippodata.de/2017/1380/docs/current_standings_ec_indiv_af…
