
The International Jumping of Dinard is back: the first day

After a blank year due to the health crisis, from 15th to 18th July, the International Jumping of Dinard is back in all its splendor in the mythical Val Porée stadium, adorned in pink for the occasion.
During the four days to come, more than 350 horses and 200 riders, among which 50 from the best in the world, originated from 24 different nations, will have the pleasure to compete in 26 classes at 1*, 3*, 5* and young horses’ level, on the sand arena or on the main grass stadium.
The CSI3 * competitors were the first to go on the grass arena yesterday morning in the 1.45m speed class sponsored by Les estivales de l’Equitation.
45 pairs were on the start list. The Irish Dermott Lennon, riding his 12 years old mare MJM Pursuit, clinches victory in a time of 69.73 seconds. Delighted with this result, for his first participation in the Jumping of Dinard, in spite of the eighteen hours of ferry trip, the rider declares « usually, I watch this show on TV, since we are preparing for the Dublin Horse Show, which is very important for us. I am really happy to be here this year. I came with four horses, among which two seven year old and two for the CSI3*. » Placed second, in a time of 70.60, Margaux Rocuet, based in the family-run stables in Saint Helen (22), associated to her 8 year mare, Dubai du Cèdre, runner-up at the national championship of the 7 year old in 2020. « She is a warrior, she gives everything for her rider, I could easily imagine her on this grass arena. She flew over the difficulties with ease and comfort. »
Jérôme Guéry in great shape in the 5* class presented by Laiterie de Montaigu
The first class of the competition reserved to the world elite, engaged in the 5* label, was held on the magnificent grass arena. 43 pairs were on the start list. Their target was to clear the first phase of the course designed by the international course designer Jean-François Morand, then complete their round as fast as possible.
At this game, hte Belgian Jérôme Guéry, riding Eras Sainte Hermelle, a 9 year old SBS stallion, was the best and clinches victory in a time of 32.60 seconds. For the rider, about to fly to Tokyo to compete for his country, « everything worked as planned. When I walked the course, I had decided to go fast but not push my horse too much, since it is only the first day of competition. He listened to me very carefully, I am really happy with him. » Placed 2nd, the French Mathieu Billot, also about to fly to the Olympics, who was in the lead almost till the end of the class with his mare Ilena S, had to give away the victory for two tenths of a second (32.67). « It was a very pleasant class, Dinard is a magnificent show, we are delighted to be here. The organisation is perfect, the ground too. Ilena just won two ranking classes in Saint Tropez, and today she jumped fantastic again. Everything is fine. » The 3rd place goes to the young Norvegian rider, Kim Emmen, 26 year old, riding Warriors Glory, in a time of 32’’69n delighted about her first participation to the Jumping of Dinard.
