The Mediterranean Games under starter’s orders

The Mediterranean Games will mark the rebirth of Abruzzo struck by the earthquake, or more accurately, the area of the regional capital of Aquila. The heart of the sporting event, a mere 100 kilometres from the area raised to the ground by the tremor, is beginning to pulse.Fabrizia D’Ottavio, the athlete from the Italian Air Force and mayor of the Mediterranean Village, is there to greet the arrival of the first national teams at the XVI Mediterranean Games. Show jumping will clearly be one of the sports present at the Games and at the starting tape to represent Italy are:
Natale Chiaudani, Giovanni Magaton, Giulia Martinengo Marquet, Filippo Moyersoen and Paolo Adamo Zuvadelli. It will be possible to follow the action as it happens live on www.pescara2009.it The cute bear in the photograph  is nobody less than the official mascot…. L.G. – HSJ
