TREC: France dominates the European Junior Championships

After a 10 year absence, the Junior European TREC Championships (an equestrian Inspection technique) took place last weekend in Italy, at the Centro Federale Emilia Romagna Ca’ belonging to Gianni di San Piero at Bagno. Ambitions for the Italian team was high after so long without a decent result on the international stage but as expected it was the French team who took the gold medal for the team event with a total of 1147 points. Second were Switzerland with 1067 points, third were Portugal with 1056 points and fourth were Austria with a total of 1003 points. The Italian Team finished fifth with 953 points even if they had been aiming for the third place during the last round. The performance of the young riders, Irina Pockar, Giulio Mazzoleni, Vittoria Guazzolini, Nicole Quercioli, Letizia Luccarelli, Elena Farolfi, Francesca Marocchini, Andrea Franco, Mirko Franchi deserves recognition for the effort and courage and also sporting spirit following the penalty to the horse named ‘Fulmine’. In the individual event, the winner was the French rider Anais Madamour, on “Chicou”, who beat the Austrian Alexandra Trudenberger on “Aladin Ben Naijb” and the Portuguese  Manuel Rodriguez on “Twister”.
