There was bad Equestrian World for rider Jos Lansink who suffered an injury in training yesterday after falling off his horse UT Vodka (Cassini x Lord). The fall took place yesterday during the training session at Lanaken ahead of the start of the Z Tour 2014.
It’s not yet been communicated how the fall came about, but it was serious enough for the rider to undergo surgery during the night. The rider will have to rest up now for at least three weeks, although optimist Jos Lansink is looking on the bright side of things saying that it could have been a whole lot worse had he ended up underneath the horse. It means that the rider may miss the entire Z-Tour and his following commitments in Lummen and Anversa. In the meantime, we wish Jos Lansink a speedy recovery.
In other Equestrian World, the first trial of the day from 1.35m was won by the German rider Hans Dieter Dreher with Master de Menandierre. The CSI2* trial from 1.40m in two-phases meanwhile was won by the Belgian Gregory Wathelet.Italian rider Emanuele Gaudiano with Caspar 232 will then be in action later in the GP from 1.45m with jump-off. This will be followed by the trial from 1.45m in two-phases in which Gaudiano will be competing again but this time on Caesario. The attention will then turn to the young horses category and Gaudiano will be taking part in the trial from 1.30m with Contino 55 (Contefino).
