In this publication, which is inspired to a manual by Doctor Vittorio Meschia entitled “The lameness of the horse, know to understand“, we will analyze some important features of hoof trimming and shoeing. Both birth and acquired defects, involving art perpendicularity, shape and mechanics can be all corrected with hoof trimming and shoeing. Hoof trimming is useful to act on the defective parts of the feet in a gradual way and not invasively. It can also involve a change in the shape of the hoof to adjust the beat timing.
